At GYS, we utilize Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) for steel production. EAF primarily use iron scrap as raw material to produce steel. Compared to blast furnaces, which produce steel directly from iron ore, this process is more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient. Our integrated system allows GYS to handle the entire process from scrap to finished products within the same facility.
Iron scrap is collected and sorted based on type and quality.
The sorted scrap is loaded into the electric arc furnace.
High-voltage current is passed through electrodes to create an electric arc, which rapidly heats and melts the scrap. The temperature of the electric arc exceeds 1600°C.
Once the scrap is molten, fluxes are added as needed to remove impurities. This process results in chemically adjusted molten steel.
The composition of the molten steel is adjusted to achieve the desired alloy properties. Refining techniques such as oxygen blowing and the addition of specific alloying elements are used.
The refined molten steel is poured into molds to form semi-finished products like blooms.
The cast semi-finished products are then processed through rolling to achieve the final product shapes and sizes.
All finished products are inspected by qualified quality control personnel to ensure they meet GYS standards and customer requirements. Materials that pass quality control are stored in our warehouse, ready for distribution and use in various building and construction projects.
The steel production process using EAF and the subsequent rolling process are environmentally friendly methods suitable for manufacturing a wide range of steel products. This approach allows for the recycling of scrap and improves energy efficiency while producing high-quality steel.
