Makassar, October 9th, 2025 — Garuda Yamato Steel (GYS), in collaboration with the Indonesian Steel Structure Center (ISSC), successfully held a technical seminar titled “The High Strength Beam Advantage: Budget Optimization Through Material Selection” at Hyatt Place Hotel Makassar.
The seminar gathered professionals from the construction and fabrication industries to discuss how high-strength hot-rolled steel can improve project efficiency, reduce costs, and support sustainable construction.
The event began with opening remarks from Mr. Sayompoo Hanakaset, Head of Sales & Procurement at GYS, and Mr. Budi Harta Winata, Chairman of ISSC, who emphasized the importance of collaboration between manufacturers, engineers, and academia in advancing Indonesia’s construction industry.
Three keynote speakers shared valuable insights:
- Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Wihardi Tjaronge, ST., M.Eng (Professor of Civil Engineering, Hasanuddin University) discussed the use of earthquake-resistant steel for construction in seismic-prone areas, emphasizing improved safety and structural resilience.
- Akhmad Aminullah, S.T., M.T., Ph.D (Lecturer in Civil Engineering, Gajah Mada University / Consultant at Barokah Konsultan Konstruksi) explained the optimization of steel structures through the selection of high-strength hot-rolled steel, highlighting efficiency and performance benefits in building design.
- Ken Pangestu (Supervisory Board Member, ISSC / Contractor & Fabricator) presented strategies for budget optimization through material selection, focusing on achieving cost efficiency without compromising quality and safety.
Participants also enjoyed a product presentation, interactive Q&A session, and a Lucky Draw featuring prizes such as Garmin devices, gold, and AirPods. The event concluded with lunch and networking, allowing attendees to share ideas and build connections.
